Understanding Flat Feet
Flat feet occur when the arches of the feet collapse, either partially or completely. This can be present from childhood or develop over time due to injury, weight gain, pregnancy, or prolonged standing.
Flat feet can contribute to foot, ankle, knee, hip, and even lower back pain.
Common Symptoms
- Pain or fatigue in the feet after standing or walking
- Swelling along the inside of the ankle
- Overpronation (rolling inward of the ankles)
- Difficulty standing on tiptoe

FAQs – Flat Feet
Q: Can chiropractic care fix flat feet?
A: Chiropractic care can’t physically recreate lost arches, but it can optimise foot function, reduce strain, and prevent or ease related pain issues.
Q: Do I always need orthotics for flat feet?
A: Not necessarily. Many cases respond well to exercises, supportive footwear, and lifestyle adjustments. Orthotics may be recommended if needed.
